What is Global Scientists and Engineers Course(GSEC)?

The Global Scientists and Engineers Course (GSEC) provides a systematic curriculum that enables bachelor’s and master’s degree students to develop the necessary competencies to excel in the global arena. Through step-by-step approach, students will be able to gain global competencies as follows ; (a) a global mindset, (b) practical skills to work in global environment, and (c) skills necessary for international collaboration.

The aims of GSEC are to foster scientists and engineers who thrive in a global society and have the expertise to contribute innovative solutions to unknown global issues. Through GSEC, it is hoped that ones will be equipped with identity based on their field of expertise/knowledge/technical skills, as well as global mindset to respect ethical values and diversity.

Global Scientists and Engineers Course

Through taking the Global Scientists and Engineers Course, students are able to augment expertise in their major with global competence. The course comprises three levels, with each level building on the one before.

Eligibility

Intended for (a) bachelor's degree students and (b) master's degree students who have not fulfilled the criteria to join the advanced level.
Students who enroll in GSEC begin at the basic level. After fulfilling the completion requirements for this level, they advance to intermediate. For GSEC completion requirements for the basic and intermediate levels.

Intended for master's and professional degree students who fulfill the eligibility criteria.
For GSEC eligibility criteria and completion requirements at the advanced level.

* The Global Science and Engineers Course (GSEC) consists of three levels: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced. Intermediate is considered the standard level. Basic serves as a preliminary level for Intermediate, and Advanced is for those who have completed Intermediate.

Four Programs / Three education contents at Three Levels of Study

At the basic and intermediate levels, GSEC aims to develop students' (a) global perspective, (b) English proficiency and communication skills, (c) multicultural understanding and teamwork, (d) problem finding and solving skills, and (e) practical ability.
At the advanced level, based on the global competencies acquired so far, GSEC equips students with (a) international liberal arts knowledge, (b) international leadership skills, (c) skills to bring new ideas and values, and (d) basic skills for conducting international joint research.
